The Darkness Comes

Silence born of anguish
The flames of contempt
could not be extinguished
Lightning crashes against the night
Darkness fought against the light

How far from grace
The mighty have fallen
The spiral of madness
Takes us down
Buries us in the strife

A tomb formed around the souls
Who cried out in that final anguish
The darkness comes
Beckoning, calling
Pulling them in

Doubt for the light
Hidden away by fear
Pushed aside
Lost in the tumult

Truth came breaking through
In that final moment of loss
Pain was broken away
Shattered into the winds
Dark stains remained
Held to those in resistance
Who remain lost in the night
As salvation rains it’s illumination
Saving those seeking the grace and warmth
A release from the fear
